Bowflex Treadmills

Bowflex treadmills are made by Nautilus who, in a similar manner to Icon Fitness, manufacture multiple brands. As well as being responsible for the Bowflex brand, they also make fitness equipment under the Schwinn, Stairmaster and Nautilus moniker.

Nautilus have been operating since the ’70s and have built up a reputation for making a range of reliable running machines. The Bowflex treadmill range is aimed squarely at the mid-range market so is pitted against machines such as the Reebok 5 series treadmill.

The Bowflex treadmill range is aimed at the home fitness equipment market, for general use in the home. So you won’t be surprised that the Bowflex range offers an easy to fold, space-saving mechanism. Bowflex running machines also come fitted with wheels on the base to help you manoeuvre the machine around if required.

Some notable features of the range include the patented “Strike Zone” cushioning system which is excellent for reducing impact on the joints and felt comfortable to run on. Also the Heart Rate controlled programmes are a welcome addition.

Although you must double-check the warranty when purchasing from the retailer, on last inspection the Bowflex treadmill range is covered 1 year home cover, where an engineer will come to your home to do any repairs. The motor is covered by a comprehensive 10 year warranty where the frame is covered for up to fifteen years. When searching for a treadmill we usually like to have a machine with at least two years in-home cover.

Users of the Bowflex running machines have mentioned that the motors can be a little noisy when compared to others in a similar price bracket. Another complaint was that the warranty wasn’t as extensive as other similarly priced models. Don’t let this put you off purchasing a Bowflex treadmill. Bowflex have a good reputation in the running community and have won a number of “Best Buy” awards in the past.

As stated previously, the Bowflex range is priced in the saturated mid-price range (in the £750+ bracket). This is a competitive part of the market with many manufacturers offering running machines with excellent features. The Bowflex range is reliable and has some outstanding features. That said, do compare their range with others before purchasing.
