Bowflex 3 Series Treadmill

The Bowflex Series 3 treadmill is the lowest spec’d model in the Bowflex range. That said, this is no budget running machine coming in at the top-end of many people’s budget and features they would expect. Bowflex cite this machine as being “semi-commercial” and looking at the machine the build quality is certainly pretty good.

This is a solid looking machine that would suit most runners. The motor is rated at 1.75 HP Continuous Duty, which is comparable to other machines in this price bracket. This can push the Bowflex up to a maximum speed of 10mph (16 kph) and accommodate a runner up to 125kg (19st 9 lbs). The machine can be inclined to a fairly steep 12% incline level which allows you to simulate hill walking and running.

The running area is a fairly generous size, measuring 51 x 137cm. As you’d expect, Bowflex have their version of a cushioned running deck, called “Strike Deck” which is designed to give you a soft landing onto the running area, but a suitably firm push off as well.

The computer console of the Bowflex 3 Series has four in-built LED screens that feedback information such as current heart-rate, average speed and the machine’s incline level. It also has six in-built programmes to help keep your exercise routine relatively varied, these include programmes specifically for cardio workouts or fat burning amongst others. Disappointingly, there are no heart-rate controlled programmes on this treadmill.

Your heart-rate can be monitored via the hand-grips. The machine is also compatible with chest strap heart rate monitors, making it easier for you to monitor your heart rate/fitness level.

The warranty of the Series 3 covers the machines frame for 15 years, the motor for 10 years and other parts being covered for two years. The one year labour cover on this treadmill is a little disappointing compared to running machines from the Horizon range. There’s a lot of competition at this price bracket, so I’d suggest comparing the features of the Bowflex Series 3 treadmill with other manufacturers treadmills.
