Bowflex 7 Series Treadmill

The Bowflex 7 Series treadmill is the top of the range runner from this manufacturer. The model isn’t greatly different from the 3 Series treadmill, or the 5 Series running machine that we’ve also discussed. More of a slow progression in the range.

The 7 Series is a full-sized running machine with a solid steel frame and good sized running area. The running deck measures a precise 50.8 x 152.4 cm. This is comparable to the running area on the 5 Series treadmill. The running deck also features the “Strike Zone” deck suspension which is a feature of all Bowflex’s treadmills. The “Strike Zone” cushioning system has been specifically designed to give you a soft landing and firm take-off to reduce impact on knee and hip joints. Not suprisingly, the treadmill’s running area can be inclined to a fairly steep 12%, which again is the same as the lesser model in the range. Setting the incline to this height allows you to simulate hill running if you are up to it!

The motor of the 7 Series has been beefed up considerably and is rated at 3.0HP continuous. This is more than powerful enough to carry a runner of 135kg, which is the recommended maximum weight for a runner on this treadmill. The motor can also push this treadmill up to a top speed of approximately 11mph (17kph).

Beyond the increase in motor size, the main area of improvement for the 7 Series is the computer console. It now has a total of fifteen you can choose from, including Fat Burn, Speed Interval Jogger and Hill Intervals. There are also two heart-rate controlled programmes that we always find really good for ensuring a great workout. Another two programmes are customizable so you can “invent” your own running routines. Also on the console there are a series of “quick keys” that let you set the speed of the machine, or the incline with a single touch of a button. A bank of three keys also allow you to set the speed of the in-built fan, that’ll help you cool down whilst exercising..

This machine actually comes with a supplied with a wireless chest-strap which is a welcomed inclusion. This will allow you to feed back your heart-rate to the console for the “HRC” programmes. There are also a pair of in-built hand-grips if you prefer to use those instead.

The warranty gives fairly decent cover on the 7 Series folding treadmill. The frame is covered for 15 years, the motor for 10 years, parts and electics for two years. Unfortunately you only get 1 year labour cover on the 5 series and frankly, when paying for a top of the range runner you’d expect at least another year in the home cover.
