Horizon 821T Treadmill
The Carbon Grey frame of the 821T is nothing out of the ordinary, but this treadmill has features that will suit a novice or casual runner.
Firstly, the motor of this Horizon machine is rated at 1.5HP, we like a little extra usually, but the motor appeared to fair well enough. It is certainly at least comparable to the motor on other budget runners such as the York T201. The main advantage of the Horizon 821T is that the warranty is at least a year longer than other entry level machines from the likes of Reebok and York. In fact it has the same warranty as other more expensive Horizon treadmills, such as the Paragon 408 which cost considerably more. This machine is covered for the life of the motor and the frame, with three years cover on the rest of the machine.
The 821T can be pushed to a top speed of 10mph (16kph), which will be suitable for most runners, and combined with a motorised incline that can be moved to a gradient of up to 10%, you should be able to get a decent work-out from the machine.
The running deck is approximately 127cm x 45cm (50” x 18”), which comes in a little wider than the running area on a fairly comparable York T202 treadmill but is exactly the same length. A very tall runner may find their stride length limited by the size and prefer a treadmill with a longer running area.
There is no wireless receiver built into the treadmill, so you can only measure your heart rate via the built-in pulse sensors in the handlebars. The computerised console also has seven in-built programmes from the basic such as “manual” where you simply set your speed/incline to the more strenuous Hill walk, Cardio challenge and Endurance challenge. The console also has an LED dot-matrix style screen that feeds back the usual Heart rate, Incline, Distance, Calories, Speed and Time information as you’d expect.
Thankfully the machine has made room for a water bottle holder, and you also get a water bottle thrown in.
So in summary, the Horizon 821T is a good all-round machine similar to the York T201 treadmill but with a better warranty and built to last, taking a runner up to 19 stones 9llb.
