Horizon Omega 309 Treadmill

The Horizon Omega 309 is a sturdy, sleek looking grey/silver machine with some excellent qualities, including the great warranty you always get from Horizon.

The stand out features of the machine are the running deck cushioning system and the on-board computer console.

The running deck features Horizon’s Variable Cushioning System (VCS), which is designed to reduce impact on the knee and hip joints and proved very comfortable to run on.

The computer console a five screen led panel with one-touch “quick key” buttons for easily increasing the speed of the machine, as well as increasing decreasing the incline. You get the constant feedback as you’d expect which includes distance run, current speed, machine elevation, calories burned and heart rate. There are also nine built in programmes of the type you would expect to see in a machine in this price bracket, including fat burn, Hill climb and the adventurously titles rock climb. It also comes with the Horizon e-Trak system. e-Trak gives you extra features that really aid with the motivational aspects of hitting the running machine. It basically stores statistical information on your running and replays it back to you. So you can get feedback from your current exercise run, previous run, or from your running sessions over a longer period of time.

Other features of the machine are quite usual for a machine in this class. The motor initially appears under-powered at 1.75HP, but didn’t have any problems pulling me at quite a high speed. The machine is rated to accommodate a runner up to a pretty generous 136KG (300llbs) and Horizon have a lifetime warranty on the motor, that really fills you with confidence. The running deck measures 132 x 46cms (52″ x 18″) which is ample for most exercisers but I think you’d appreciate another 8cm (2″-3″) extra running length going at top speeds. The Horizon Omega 309 also has a motorised incline that can take the machine from 0% up to 10%. The Digital Drive motor can push the top speed of this treadmill up to a respectable 16KPH (or approximately 10MPH).

This folding treadmill has a controlled drop mechanism, a hydraulic system to ensure that the machine glides to the floor when unfolding, as well as the “Fold Safe” mechanism to ensure that the running machine doesn’t unintentionally open.

As per the other Horizon treadmills in the range, the warranty on the machine is very good with lifetime cover on the motor of the machine and the frame. Everything else is covered by three year parts and labour.
