Proform 4.0 Folding Treadmill

As the name would suggest, the Proform 4.0 sits above the 3.8 model in the Proform treadmill range. There are a couple of features that make this treadmill stand out from it’s little brother.

Firstly, the running deck size on this running machine is slightly bigger at 50cm x 140cm. So it’s only 2cm wider. The incline of the machine has been increased with the 4.0 being able to incline to a fairly steep 12%, which is a 2% increase over the 3.8 model. The speed range of this treadmill is between 0 – 18kph (around 11mph), which is a 2kph increase on the 3.8.

To help with the extra speed and incline, the motor on this treadmill has been increased to a more comfortable 2.0HP continuous

To monitor you’re heart-rate on this machine, you can either use the EKG grip sensors that are built into the handlebars, or buy the optional chest heart rate sensor.

There’s plenty of programes built into the console, it has 18 in total that vary the speed/inclines for a varied workout. A welcome addition is the fan that’s built into the dashboard to help keep you cool whilst exercising.

Interestingly, the maximum recommended weight of a runner on this machine is 130kg, which is 5kg less than the Proform 3.8. I’d attribute this to the fact that the Proform 4.0 treadmill operates at a higher top-speed and a greater incline than the model below it in the treadmill range.

As you’d expect from a Proform machine you get a decent on-site warranty which runs from two years from the date of purchase.
