Tunturi T20 Treadmill
The Tunturi T20 treadmill is at the lower end of the Tunturi range of treadmills. Tunturi treadmills are manufactured by Accell, a German fitness company who also produce the Bremshey range.
This treadmill has recently been voted “BEST BUY” in “Which” magazine. The Tunturi T20 is a solidly built machine with a fairly powerful motor. Rated at 2.5HP, the T20’s motor can push this running machine to a top speed of 10mph (around 16kph). The motor is powerful enough to take a runner weighing at up to 298llb (135kg), which will be sufficient for most runners. The maximum incline of this machine is a pretty steep 12% that can be moved in 1% increments.
The running deck is cushioned and gives you a comfortable run. The running area, whilst fairly generously sizes at 51 x 135 cm might feel a little too short when the machine is pushed to it’s top speed or maximum incline level.
The console is functional rather than exciting. It has 6 in-built programmes, one of which is Heart Rate Controlled (always excellent for getting you fit within your own capabilities). The console outputs all the information you’d expect such as time, distance, speed and calories burned. This model also has two ways that you can measure your heart-rate. You can either use the in-built hand contact sensors in the handlebars, or alternatively if you buy a wireless chest-strap the T20 your heart-rate can be measured via the in-built receiver. This is always a better option when running at faster speeds.
The T20 is backed by the same cover as other Tunturi/Bremshey treadmills. The frame and motor on the machine are covered for up to 15 years. All other components are covered for two years on-site, so in the event the treadmill breaks down, an engineer will come and repair it for you.
All in all the Tunturi T20 is a solid machine with a good home warranty. Personally I feel that this treadmill is overpriced when compared to the Bremshey Ambition or Pacer T which generally have bigger running areas, motors and increased top-speeds.
